If you’re planning your wedding, it’s quite likely that you’ll be making a trek out to at least a few wedding events. In fact, such events are often an extremely useful first step in the initial stages of the wedding planning process. This is because so many different types of vendors are there with samples of the various goods which they can provide. Also, various service providers, such as photographers, bakers, florists, and more are generally on hand with portfolios of their previous work for you to peruse. With all of these professionals gathered under one roof, you could make most, if not all of many of the most important decisions about your big day right then and there.
Your Wedding Cake
As we mentioned, there are often a number of bakers on hand at these wedding expos that would be well qualified to bake and decorate your wedding cake for you. They usually have some samples available for tasting, as well as photographs for you to look at which are representative of some of their previous design work. There are a couple of important factors to take into account when selecting your ideal wedding cake. One of these is the size of your reception, both in terms of people and space. Obviously, it’s important to select a cake that is capable of feeding everyone attending at least once. However, if you have a relatively small area for the cake in your reception hall, then you should probably refrain from choosing a cake that has spread out tiers, lovely as it may be. One final aspect to consider is the theme or ambiance you’ve settled on for your reception. Perhaps you’ve picked colors, or you’re going for a wild and wacky theme, like Alice in Wonderland. Cake bakers and designers can do it all, so just know what you are going for.
Photographers will also be waiting for you at the event. They’ll have an expansive portfolio of their previous work with them for you to review. What you’re looking for here is a photographer that you have a rapport with, you can afford, and who takes photos in the style you prefer. Affordability needs no explanation, but having a good working relationship with your photographer is invaluable. That’s because you need to be able to communicate, whether it’s you suggesting certain poses or your photographer directing you on how to stand. Also, many brides are unaware of the different styles of wedding photography. There’s the traditional approach, with lots of staged, group photos, and there’s a growing trend in the photo-journalistic style. Of course, these aren’t the only two vendors you’ll encounter at wedding events, but they are two of the most important.
