Plan a board game night with your closest pals

By Alicia McCarthy – June 14, 2012

When planning an event, it’s easy to adopt the motto “Go big or go home,” but that might not always be the best ideology. Sometimes a smaller in home party turns out to be the most fun. But just because a gathering is going to be low key doesn’t mean you can shirk party planning responsibilities!

With the luxury of a smaller guest list, you can easily host a fun board game night. Invite your nearest and dearest over for a night of entertainment and conversation.

Select the games to play depending upon the amount of people. If your guest list seems to be running a bit long, there is no need to cut it down. Instead, get a few games going at once, or break the group into teams and get the party started!

However, like any event, some smart party planning will help this night run smoothly. Since smaller get-togethers are more intimate, make sure that each attendee knows at least one person besides yourself to avoid possible awkward situations.

Also, be conscious of the people you invite – if you plan to ask four couples to come over, don’t throw an extra invite to your single friend, as he or she is likely to feel excluded.
