Specialty foods may liven up a party

By Alicia McCarthy – August 2, 2012

Looking to liven up dinner party menus? You can only serve the same kind ofchicken so often, why not look to other countries for culinary inspiration?

The Multicultural Center of the South Taste of Culture event was recently held in Louisiana and it took attendees on a trip around the globe, sampling tastes from each continent, reports the Shreveport Times.

“When all different cultures get together as one, we have a better understanding of each other,” Deborah Coleman, chairwoman of the event, told the news source.

Specialties ranged from the traditional Louisiana delicacy, shrimp and grits, to a delicious-sounding African peg corn.

Dinner party menus can be difficult to put together, so why not contact caterers and have them do all of the heavy lifting? Thai or Indian dishes may cause your guests’ taste buds to dance with their touches of saffron and coriander, or you could always throw a large Italian feast.

The sky is the limit when hosting a dinner party, whether it is small and intimate, or large and festive, great food and even better company will make for a fantastic evening.
