Fashion designer’s guide to throwing the perfect dinner party

By Alicia McCarthy – August 7, 2012

While nights out on the town can be a blast, sometimes it can be just as much (if not more) fun to host an in-home party. However, with dinner party menus and decorating, throwing these gatherings may seem to be a bit daunting.

Luckily for those who want to invite their nearest and dearest over to their abode for a night of delicious food and great conversation, fashion designer Fleur Wood recently wrote a book, Food Fashion Friends, that reveals the secrets of hosting a perfect dinner party.

“[I hope this book will] inspire people to enjoy entertaining, and take some of the stress out of it,” Wood told The Sydney Morning Herald. Her book contains nine dinner party menus and includes styling tips, table settings and playlists.

“It doesn’t matter about everything matching perfectly or all the food turning out amazingly,” Wood added. “There’s many a time when things haven’t worked out well – I once burnt risotto and passed it off as smoked risotto! I think what makes a stylish dinner party is a relaxed host.”

To relieve some stress when planning the perfect dinner party, consider hiring a few professionals to assist you. Many catering companies bring and prepare the food, serve and clean up their pots and pans when the night is over.
