No matter what your event, choosing a great venue can set you up for success. Choosing the perfect venue for a live performance whether it be a concert, a dance performance, a standup comedy act, etc. can be tricky and should be done with precision and care. You will need to make sure that the venue has space that is suitable for your live performance, has the right atmosphere to go with your live act and has adequate facilities for all the needs of your guests.
Determine The Number Of Attendees
Before heading out to look at different venues, you will first need to determine how many people will be in attendance, what size performance space you will need, what the date of the event will be and what your budget is. It is then a good idea to call around to a variety of venues. Determine which ones have availability for your date, can work within your budget and have the right amount of space. After doing this, it is now time to head out and check out your top 2-3 locations before making your decision.
Adequate Parking And Easy Accessible
When you arrive at the venue, determine if there is adequate parking and easy accessibility for your guests. Upon entering, determine whether or not the atmosphere will fit your performance. Is there adequate seating and do the seats all have a good view? Is the seating comfortable? How are the acoustics in the room where the performance will be held? Is the stage large enough to accommodate your performance? Is the lighting adequate? Do they have the equipment you will need for your performance? Do they have a sound system that will fit your needs? Do they have on sight technicians that will be able to run all of the lighting, sound and other equipment you will be using during the performance? Do they have on sight staff that can help you set up for the performance? If not what options are available?
Catering & Drinks
It will also be important to check to make sure that there are adequate rest rooms and a coat check facilities. If you will be serving any food or beverages what are your options? Do they offer on site catering or will you have to choose and outside vendor? Where will they set up and serve food and beverages?
It is also a good idea to go over costs for all of your event needs. You will certainly want to make sure that there are no hidden fees. Determine venue rental costs along with equipment rental, food and beverage cost, etc. Make sure you also find out when you have to have a deposit in by to secure your date and what the venue’s cancelation policy is.
