Throw an eco-friendly children’s party

By Alicia McCarthy – July 18, 2012

When throwing a child’s birthday celebration, parents are often concerned with picking the perfect party themes and stocking up on the appropriate party supplies. In addition to this party planning, however, why not throw an eco-friendly birthday fiesta?

According to MyGloss.com, a green children’s party is simple to throw, and may reduce the amount of waste, possibly making for an easier cleanup!

Instead of choosing disposable party supplies, opt for their washable counterparts (cloth napkins, sturdy plastic glasses) that can be easily thrown into the washing machine or dishwasher and reused later on.

While paper tablecloths may be a popular choice, the news source recommends a fun, earth friendly alternative. Cover the table with an old sheet and purchase non-toxic markers. Kids can decorate the fabric with designs and birthday wishes. When the party is over, instead of tossing out the tablecloth, the guest of honor can hold onto the message-covered sheet as a meaningful keepsake.

When putting together the goodie bag, opt for items that won’t go to waste. The news outlet suggests giving little ones packets of seeds they can plant at home.
